Abstract:
For more than 25 years, Stanford Medical Informatics has been designing and deploying software systems to aid clinical decision making. From automation of clinical trials to the encouragement of adherence to clinical practice guidelines, these systems have demonstrated the importance of principled representation of knowledge and of clinical terminologies. I will discuss several of these clinical decision-support systems and the lessons we have learned from them.
